Diamond Aircraft Industries Inc, London - Canada Supervisor, Technical Publications (f/m/x)
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Technical Publications Supervisor to oversee the preparation, review, and revision of technical publications, including aircraft flight manuals, maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and Illustrated Parts Catalogs. The ideal candidate will lead a team of technical writers, and illustrators ensuring accuracy, clarity, and adherence to industry standards while collaborating with engineering and customer support teams. The selected individual will analyze technical data, coordinate with various stakeholders, and guide the development of new or updated publications that meet operational, safety, and certification requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of technical writers to ensure timely and high-quality deliverables.
- Assign and prioritize tasks related to the creation and revisions of technical publications, monitor progress.
- Conduct performance reviews for the technical publications team.
- Establish and enforce documentation standards, processes, and best practices.
- Maintain publication schedules and ensure deadlines for all technical publication deliverables are adhered to.
- Research, write, revise, and update technical manuals for the Diamond Aircraft product line, including but not limited to: Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM), Wiring Diagram Manual (WDM) (included in the AMM), Fault Isolation Manual (FIM) (included in the AMM), Aircraft Illustrated Parts Catalogue (AIPC), Airplane Flight Manual (AFM), Operating Checklist and Flight Information Manual (based on the AFM), Structural Repair Manual (SRM), Service Bulletins (SBs), Temporary Revisions for the AMM and AFM.
- Liaise with engineering, airworthiness, product development, and customer support teams to gather technical information and ensure publications meet regulatory, customer, and operational requirements.
- Coordinate with offsite contractors and external vendors as needed to supplement technical publication efforts.

- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with health, safety, and aviation industry regulations.
- Incorporate feedback from internal audits, external stakeholders, and end-users to improve documentation standards.
Skills
- University degree in aerospace or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of relevant experience in aircraft maintenance, system troubleshooting, and technical writing.
- At least 3 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a technical publications team.
- Strong ability to interpret engineering documentation, including engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, functional test procedures, and software specifications.
- Proficiency with authoring tools such as Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe Illustrator, WordPerfect, XML, and MS Word.
- Familiarity with SGML/XML, S1000D Specifications, and other industry standards.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to write concise, clear, and user-friendly documentation.
- Expertise in organizing content for ease of use and operational efficiency.
- Comprehensive understanding of ATA, GAMA and S1000D specifications, Simplified English, and technical writing policies.
- Aircraft flying experience is considered an asset.
