DA42 MPPs Tackle Flooding in Thailand

Royal Thai Air Force’s DA42 MPP aircraft showed their worth as they helped authorities tackle hazardous flooding in the country’s northern regions in September.

A tropical cyclone hit Thailand hard in the last days of August, devastating homes, businesses, and farmland. Tragically, lives were lost, too. With the heavy rain and rising rivers came record-breaking flooding.

In their efforts to coordinate a response, the Royal Thai Air Force sent up their DA42 MPP aircraft to perform aerial monitoring of the effected areas. Equipped with MX-15 Camera Systems, line-of-sight downlink capability, and working in conjunction with a Diamond Aircraft-produced ground station, the aircraft were able to provide relief teams with real-time imaging crucial for their analysis and emergency planning.

“The DA42 MPP's rapid deployment and advanced imaging capabilities proved invaluable in assessing the full scope of the disaster,” said Benjamin Schuhmann, Sales Manager APAC & ME, Special Mission Aircraft Division.

“By delivering critical real-time data, the aircraft enabled emergency responders to act quickly and effectively, saving lives and safeguarding communities. The DA42 MPP once again demonstrated its value and importance to the people of Thailand, providing essential support in times of crisis.”
