On 18 July 2016 the first Diamond Aircraft DA62 has touched ground in Australia.
Thomas Wimmer, Test Pilot at Diamond Aircraft Industries, made the distance of approximately 10,000nm (18,500km) in only 10 days with a total flight time of 60 hours - following this route: Wr. Neustadt (Austria) – Çorlu (Turkey) -Tbilisi (Georgia) – Mary (Turkmenistan) – Lahore (Pakistan) – Lucknow (India) – Chittagong (Bangladesh) - Hat Yai (Thailand) – Palembang (Indonesia) – Denpasar/Bali (Indonesia) – Australia: Broome – Perth – Ceduna – Sydney.
“I flew the coast-to-coast leg from Perth to Sydney in only one day, which demonstrates the aircraft’s great suitability for long range travel in such a vast and open country.” said Thomas Wimmer, “On the 1,800nm flight with 40 – 50kt tailwind, the DA62 consumed only 117 US gal of Jet Fuel.”
