On June 23 – 24, 2007 the annual Fly In for owners of Diamond aircraft took place in Pécs, Hungary. In fantastic weather, 130 owners in 46 aircraft from Hungary, Austria, Germany, France, Great Britain, Bulgaria, Croatia and Slovenia found themselves in this south Hungarian town, which is known as one of the most beautiful in the country. A participant from Great Britain was honoured for the longest journey, his starting point being from North Shields in Tyne and Wear. In addition to the customary exchange of experiences among the owners, the programme also offered a tour of Pécs and a visit to Vineyard Wunderlich in Villány, south of Pécs.
The enjoyment to be had in this wonderful and charming town, as well as the delicious Hungarian wine, exceeded the expectations of many of the participants. Thus after our rendezvous we could detect an overall feeling of marked satisfaction. The perfect “flying‿ weather stayed with us for the journey home so that the Diamond aircraft owners experienced an altogether unclouded aeronautical, cultural and culinary highlight.
A Diamond Fly In will also take place next year. Although the destination is not yet known, it will most probably take place somewhere in southern Europe.
