Electrifying Flying
A carbon responsible solution, offering a significant reduction to our already low emissions and noise signature; Diamond’s aircraft are a sustainable electric solution for the General Aviation market of tomorrow.
eDA40 All-Electric Aircraft
After extensive research and numerous flight test hours on electric and hybrid electric platforms, Diamond Aircraft is positioned to offer an all-electric solution to the General Aviation market – the eDA40.
Creating an eco-conscious and cost effective option for the training market has always been at the core of Diamond Aircraft. The eDA40, a derivative of the existing and certified DA40 platform, shall be the first EASA/FAA CS/Part 23 certified electric airplane.
Projects Electric Proofs of Concept
HEMEP Hybrid Electric Flying
October 2018 - HEMEP
The world’s first hybrid-electric multi engine.
Siemens and Diamond Aircraft have partnered again in order to develop a multi-engine hybrid electric aircraft with lower fuel consumption (higher efficiency) and decreased noise pollution.
DA36 E-Star2 Commercial Viability of Serial Hybrid Electric Drive
June 2013 - Diamond DA36 E-Star 2
At the Paris Airshow, Siemens, EADS and Diamond Aircraft showcased the next generation DA36 E-Star with a serial hybrid-electric drive.
This drive concept enables quiet electric takeoff and a considerable reduction in both fuel consumption and emissions of up to 25 percent. The second generation aircraft has proven that this technology is suitable for commercial use.
DA36 E-Star World's First Aircraft with a Serial Hybrid Electric Drive
June 2011 - Diamond DA36 E-Star
Diamond Aircraft, Siemens, Austro Engine and EADS presented the world’s first aircraft with a serial hybrid electric drive system.
The heavily modified Diamond HK36 motorglider serves as a test bed for technologies that are intended to develop into use on large-scale aircraft to cut fuel consumption and emissions by 25 percent, compared to today’s most efficient aircraft.
